From April to June 2013, I created “remixes” of the eight classes presented in the Fourth Edition Player’s Handbook (Arcane, Divine, and Martial) — Cleric, Fighter, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Warlock, Warlord, and Wizard.

These are “Heroic” classes — they only span the first ten levels of play.

Game of Roles: Revised Captain (May 13, 2013)
Martial leader, the Captain is unusual in that they don’t have an encounter-based healing power. Instead they can improve the healing of nearby allies, and begin to administer First Aid as a minor action, recharging their allies’ Second Wind.

Game of Roles: Revised Duelist (Jun 28, 2013)
Martial defender, the Duelist dares to do what others in their role oft neglect: they defend themselves — drawing attacks so as to punish enemies who take shots at them. They have a versatile array of Opportunity actions at their disposal.

Game of Roles: The Healer (May 23, 2013)
Divine leader, the Healer is an experiment in true passivity — focused entirely on boosting defenses, preventing damage, and restoring hit points. The Healer isn’t punished for choosing to attack, but they don’t have any incentive to attack.

Game of Roles: The Hellraiser (May 24, 2013)
Arcane striker, the Hellraiser is the Infernal pact warlock. No ridiculous, off-theme secondary powers, or striker-marking mechanics here — just undiluted awesome packaged in fiery death. I even reintroduced an old keyword, “Death.”

Game of Roles: The Hospitaler (May 25, 2013)
Martial and Divine defender, the Hospitaler is a “nice guy” defender who aims to protect allies more than smite enemies. There’s still smiting to be found, but the Hospitaler is the guy who will literally help you to your feet as a minor action.

Game of Roles: The Poisoner (May 8, 2013)
Martial striker, the Poisoner is a poke in the eye to the Essentials Executioner. Using poison doesn’t need fancy mechanics, it’s a damage keyword. The Poisoner does what other poison-using class have failed to do — reliable poison damage.

Game of Roles: The Stalker (Jun 26, 2013)
Martial and Primal striker, the Stalker is unconventional in that rather than focusing on a single, powerful attack, they combine thrown weapons with charge attacks. Inspired by the “marauder” Ranger build from Martial Power 2.

Game of Roles: The Wayfarer (May 9, 2013)
Arcane controller, the Wayfarer is an answer to a succession of five terrible wizards — Arcanist, Bladesinger, Mage, Sha’ir, and Witch. The Wayfarer has ensured damage, a unique mode of movement, a useful familiar, and “true” implement mastery.
