Not Doing The Blog Hop
Did I mentione the Rumors of War Relaunch Project FUNDED?
See for yourself!
After reviewing my traffic from the last week of doing the Blog Hop thing, I think I can safely conclude that it isn’t bringing enough traffic to my site to justify proceeding. I probably should have realized that going in, it’s just a series of writing prompts to encourage bloggers to blog more.
I think people following the RPGBA probably skip those entries anyway. I did.
So yeah. Admittedly, the Blog Hop thing was supposed to act as filler while I was working behind the scenes on preparing the website for the next comic. I haven’t decided yet if I will take down the current Rumors of War comic before beginning — they’ll be different stories anyway. I don’t know.
I’ll need to try out the new format. It will require a smaller screen to view, making it possible to read the comic on a mobile device. That’ll be cool. Actually, I’ve been going over the whole mobile device thing and wondering if maybe I should get a smart phone so I can keep tabs on my site that way.
I’ve resisted smart phones for a long time because I feel the more complicated a device is, the less reliable it becomes. A phone is an essential device nowadays, I need it to bloody work in an emergency. I don’t want to feel compelled to turn it off because it chirps at me every five minutes or so.
Cookiemonger has a smart phone and likes to remind me of all the fantastic and wonderful things I could do if I got one. Like updating the blog remotely, rather than jumping from one PC to another as I’ve grown accustomed to doing. She might have a point. It would also be easier to update on Twitter.
I don’t know. I just don’t know. I’ve taken the social media thing slowly.
Here’s what’s what — before the advent of social media, I was fully aware of how being constantly at the center of attention was damaging to people. I was in high school? And an introvert? So yeah, social media being potentially bad for people was kind of a no-brainer. It has its good points though. And its uses.
I just don’t know if I can manage being an advertiser and a creator at the same time. I’ve always held out this hope that if I made a good product, it would attract its own audience. You know, “if you build it, they will come.” Right?
Welp. I think that’s all the self-doubt I’m entitled to at the moment.
Let’s see where this year takes us.
