If you enjoy the RPG content of my website and you have some disposable income, then I urge you to check out my new patreon page.

The kind of game design work I do doesn’t cost you anything — it’s all free and available for you to peruse at your leisure on my website. I don’t charge for content because it would be unethical — I don’t own Dungeons & Dragons.

This doesn’t mean the work I do isn’t valuable. Quite the contrary. Wizards of the Coast is currently in the process of moving from one edition to the next, and their history would indicate they have no intention of maintaining Fourth Edition.

If you don’t believe me, check out WotC’s product history — we haven’t gotten one new character class since Heroes of the Elemental Chaos a year and a half ago. There have been a smattering of character themes, and not a whole lot else.

It’s my aim — in the months and years to come — to push Fourth Edition farther the way it was already going. Faster and greater tactical depth, greater support for non-combat challenges, more fantastical races and classes, and so forth.

I don’t have anything even resembling the clout of Paizo during the Edition Wars of yesteryear, but I know D&D Next is going to cause yet another Broken Base, and I think you know what side I’ve chosen — I want to stick with 4e and Essentials.
