So, while I’d like to be working on something with fantastically wonderful and interesting updates, I’m afraid most of my updates throughout the day will continue to be about what I’m working on: figuring out these sticky notes and planning the future of Rumors of War. Interspersed, of course, with sporadic updates to the status of Escape from White Cliff.

Right now I’m trying to figure out the volume of sticky notes needed to cover fifteen years of story ideas. I’m kind of looking at the year as a series of four encounter clusters — four elements per cluster, four clusters per year, fifteen years — which winds up being two hundred forty sticky notes. I have a number now, but I don’t have what I want.

I have more work to do — I need to look at the next year and jot notes about how I intend to use the plots I have in waiting, and I need to look at the previous year and figure out how they ultimately fit into the grand scheme. I have to look both ways — forward and backward, to make sense of the whole picture. I’m sure, at some point, I can step back and look, too, but I need room to stand, and I think that’ll take a few years.
