I’ve seen lists like this before, but I thought of writing about this one, this time, so here’s a link to Strange Horizons: Stories We’ve Seen Too Often. (There’s even a note at the top of the page with a link to a separate section of the website for Horror Stories We’ve Seen Too Often.) Lists like these are great for generating ideas, whether it’s because you want to write a story that’s different from “what’s usually submitted,” or…

…because you’re out of ideas and you need a really bad one to write to get it out of your system. Anyway, I haven’t checked out much of the site, though I got there through a link, given by a friend in the writing group, to another website called The Crimson Pact. Since I dabble in this whole writing-thing, with an aim to be published (for some reason), rules and guidelines for submissions always interest me, and these are no exception.

Incidentally, the site where we got the whole “let’s write various stories based on the Rumpelstiltskin myth” is Fairy Tale Magazine. They have some very … well, they have some interesting submission guidelines.
