I only just mentioned that I have another comic idea in the works and I thought I’d take a moment out to tell you a little bit about what it is and where it fits in “the vision.” When I started preparing for Rumors of War, I wound up with ideas for a plot that I determined would span a ten-year period. While I worked feverishly on it, I realized that to achieve my desired story, I’d need more than one comic to do it…

I set down the framework for an enormous story a little less than a year ago: an epic that spanned up to four concurrent storylines following four different groups of characters. I decided on a number of major events that I wanted to take place in the span of the Rumors of War storyline, and realized that to achieve the effect I desired, I would need more. Threatening the continued existence of the world isn’t a task to be undertaken lightly.

I wanted to write a tale that described the end times of a world, and that’s pretty heavy business. And I wanted to do it the “right way,” which, as far as I’m concerned, isn’t something I’ve ever seen done to my satisfaction. I knew it was going to be a massive project from the get-go, but I’m giving myself plenty of opportunities to stop or change my mind. I want to tell the story, but I don’t have to. I want to be ready for anything.
