I spent. So. Much. Time. Working on figuring out Elysia’s character yesterday, it’s ridiculous. I mean, it’s one thing to have a character you’ve been writing for the better part of a year and it’s another entirely to not be sure what they’re capable of because you’ve never really thought about it. I mean, I did a character sheet for Elysia ages ago, as part of a “get to know the characters thing,” but I was tweaked her build for hours.

Of course, I got something like sixteen hundred words out of figuring out what she was on about and how she operated during a combat situation. I also started delving into the hows and whys (psychologically, magically) of her powers and abilities, and started to see her from a new perspective. I was feeling pretty good about the whole thing, … and then I moved on to Nenshe. His character sheet is somehow worse.

Nenshe’s going to take a lot of work. While Elysia required that I stick to powers and abilities she’s already exhibited (allowing for time to grow and mature, of course), Nenshe has yet to appear in a fight, which means he’s still largely “untested” (meaning only that his prowess in combat hasn’t been seen) but it also means everything he has now could be thrown out in favor of a completely new build.

Much as I’d love to do this for all my characters (really, there’s only four to do right off the bat) I don’t know that I’m going to have time before the script that needs to be done … tomorrow. I’m going to be staying up late tomorrow night, it seems. Probably working until the last minute and then, oh right, building some pages to make sure there’s something ready to go online Sunday morning. Ah, mi. *yawn*
