I decided to take a gamble and write this early so I don’t have to worry about writing it when I get back from writing group tonight. I’ve only added one thousand, eight hundred thirty-three words to my novel today, but I did it after spending a good portion of the day working on the current chapter of the comic and some reading. I also caught up on The Colbert Report and some political readings. Oh, and I got caught up on the last three weeks of Zero Punctuation, because I needed a good chuckle.

The writing I did get done today wasn’t anything I had really planned out in advance. I mean, I have stuff that I planned to add to The Dragonslayers today, but what I wound up writing was something that was more larger-scale than I expected. I’m sort of putting off a scene because I haven’t quite got the visuals hammered out, and I kind of want to know what the place looks like before I try to describe it physically.

I’ve started a list of things I’ll need to research before I go to rewrite the novel. I’ve decided that I’m not going to do any more research while writing it, I’m just going to make things up as I go along, and go check facts later. I love research, and that’s one of the big obstacles to writing. Yes, yes, it’s best to make sure you know what you’re talking about, but if you want to be a good writer, you have to get out of the library. Actually that sounds almost like a quote from Indiana Jones… *chuckles*
